ROLEPLAY RULES (ALL READ BEFORE POSTING IN CHARACTER)

General Roleplay Rules

1. While we are 100 years in the future, we do follow canon where possible. We are far looser about what is allowed and what is not. We do not allow for relationships to canon characters of the past without permission. We also do not allow for relationships to our canon characters without permission first.

2. You cannot control a character's thoughts, actions, or words other than your own. Which means you are not allowed to GOD MOD. You have to ask permission before speaking for the actions of someone else's character (even if that character is not in your thread). Events that hae occured between your character and another character in the past MUST be mutually established before you can talk about them, or must have been previously played out IC on this board. If you have permission to God Mod a character please state that in the post where you god mod in an OOC note at the bottom of your post!

This means you cannot punch, hit with a spell, or romantically touch a character other than your own. You must allow the other character to state whether or not they were hit, spelled, touched, whatever. You can post that you put your hand out to touch someone, leaned in to kiss someone, reached out to hug, sent out a spell, but there is no guarantee that your character touched the other character unless you have been given god mod permissions or the other character states what happened in their post.

Know that your character's knowledge is different from your own. Even if someone states their characters thoughts in a post, THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOUR CHARACTER TO KNOW THAT CHARACTERS THOUGHTS!!! WHere you know, your character does not.

3. You may only have TWO characters! (we do check IP addresses)


4. All posts but those made in character journals are made from the third person perspective (Bob raised and eyebrow before going to the front of the class. Turning around, he said, "blah blah.") We use a free form roleplay, which means you post a narrative of what your character is doing, feeling, and saying, and someone else comes along and does the same thing - reacting to your character. All the characters in the RP create a story together and it should read like one big story.


5. Spells and potions that are allowed by year are in the lists. Please do not use unapproved spells or spells above your year.

6. All special abilities/appearances must be approved through application process.

7. If you are new to RPing, please read a few threads before posting in order to get the idea. We will have a section where you can improve your RP and that will link to good threads of examples of excellent RP. That is what we are looking for from you, the new member.


8. You are responsible for knowing all rules and all information presented about RPing in specific areas of the forum. These are just the general guidelines.

9. When in doubt ASK before you post. We are more than willing to help and answer questions!

A couple more things we would like to add, here.

1.  First of all, we ask that you use colored text ONLY when you are either playing an NPC character, or if you are highlighting an embedded link (such as Polyvore links).  You may also use colored text in your journal, should you choose to keep one.

2.  Second of all, we would like to state that it is perfectly acceptable to have an occasional NPC.  You may either play said NPC in a different colored text (such as this post here), or you may choose not to, if the NPC doesn't say anything but only shows up for a line or two.

However, if you are going to play an NPC on a regular basis, then you must fill out an application for an NPC Request.  DO be sure to read the guidelines, please.
