ALPHABET KILLER CONTINUES TERROR SPREE
DMLE obtains further clues as to identity of killer
It has been learned that the Alphabet Killer has struck again--twice--causing further alarm in the Wizarding World. Last week, the killer struck at the home of Ms. Savannah Kane, a prominent researcher into the properties of archaic runes. Ms. Kane was pronounced dead at the scene, and several Aurors sustained minor injuries. The attackers, numbering five in all, are said to have come from Romania; three of the attackers were pronounced dead at the scene while the remaining two were taken into custody for interrogation. Furthermore, the Daily Prophet has learned that another business card was obtained from the suspects. However, attempts to contact Blake Jameson, Director of Operations for the Aurors' Office, yielded no further information, as Mr. Jameson had no comment. Further attempts to contact the DMLE have yielded similar results. However, Mr. Jameson did go on record as stating that they were progressing with the investigation.
In a similar situation two nights ago, the Alphabet Killer struck yet again in the city of Birmingham, England at the home of Harold Norris, a private researcher who was reported to have been working on a spell to counteract the Fidelius Charm. The three suspects, rumoured to be from Russia, were taken to Mungo's for injuries sustained during the battle with Aurors before being taken into custody for interrogation. The Daily Prophet has learned that one Auror, Blake Jameson, Jr., also sustained heavy injuries in battle and is being treated at Mungo's. Mr. Norris has also apparently been taken to Mungo's; it is said that he attempted to use a spell against the attackers and used the spell that he had been researching by mistake. The spell reportedly backfired on him, and he is said to be babbling endlessly about anything and everything, much of it seemingly nonsense.
"We've found out all sorts of interesting things," stated a source at Mungo's who remains anonymous, "Including the location of Merlin's tomb." The source went on to state that Mr. Norris appears to have detailed information as to the origins of goblins, and then broke out into song for no apparent reason before crouching to the floor and waddling like a duck.
Efforts to reach the DMLE for official comment have been unsuccessful; however, it is speculated that the DMLE now believes that an insider within the Aurors' Office has been instrumental in orchestrating potential targets for the attacks, based on evidence retrieved from the last few crime scenes. Rumours also abound that the insider may have been acting under the influence of the Imperius Curse, or else under heavy threats.
It is the Daily Prophet's hope that the killer is apprehended soon, to put the public's fears to rest.
